I tried my hand at some sort of stream-of-consciousness grid and composite sketching yesterday and this morning. My camera and scanner did not want to cooperate and make a nice image this morning. I'm hopeful that this is not an omen for the rest of the day. I'm REALLY looking forward to 5:15 pm when something will be over and done with that I have little control over but which could screw up. It's a day for patience, elephants and Desiderata!
Onward and upward!
Thought I'd give those strange but fascinating Neopastels a go today. I put down watercolor and then added the pastel ... and then rubbed it with a tissue a bit. I like the bright color very much, but not the mess. I think I'll keep the pastels on the list of things I would like to learn though. I love the way pastel paintings look. They have something other media don't.
Fictional female characters like Mary Poppins and Anne of Green Gables have had a great influence on my life. Tis the positive attitude, the belief in magic, the ability to see the wonder in things and the getting things done that appeals! A song never hurts either.
Mary Poppins: "In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun, and - SNAP - the job's a game!"
Anne of Green Gables: "Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?"
This is the last page of this journal. Two more weeks of class to go so I'd best crack open another one.
It was a full day with lots of good things happening, with a sprinkling of disappointment that today wasn't a snow day! But the good well outweighed the bad.

More class fun! Here are three quick sketches of the same scene in watercolor, Inktense and Coloursoft.
I ran out of patience to do the fourth with watercolor pencils ... as I don't really like mine anyhow. But what would be fun would be to combine these.
I did some class exercises on art cards while the boys straggled through the routine this morning. I can pull out the cards and look at them when I want to.
The card with the mittens was done by justforthefunofit. The other two? Oh I forget ... somebody called Monet or something ... :-)
